ROUNDTABLE TOPIC: What Recruitment will look like in 5 years
Raife Watson is the full-time CEO of jobs website Adzuna, and part-time employment expert for Channel 9’s Today Show.
When he’s not chewing the fat with Karl and Georgie at the news desk, Raife spends his days meeting talent managers from Australia’s top companies to provide solutions on how to attract quality candidates to their businesses.
Adzuna is a jobs aggregator and originally launched in the U.K in 2011. Job seekers flocked to the platform enthusiastically with the advent of detailed employment data and futuristic tools like ValueMyCV, which strive to make the process of finding a job simple, not arduous. Businesses soon came on board and stayed, due largely to the cost efficiency of the pay-per-click model.
Fairfax Media noted the success of Adzuna in the U.K and also realised the limitations of its My Career jobs platform in Australia. In 2013, Fairfax brought Adzuna to the Australian market for many good reasons, but, we’ll give you two. The job board model is not cost-effective for businesses, and the type of candidates the job boards attract are active, not passive. It is this second point Raife will be chatting about during the roundtable.
Passive candidates are highly skilled, highly reliable employees who are notoriously difficult to find. Raife will be discussing how to find these elusive candidates, what do with them once unearthed, and how much to spend on the hunt.
